Sitting in the boardroom in downtown San Francisco I had no idea what was about to happen. A Delta Dental Insurance executive Elizabeth Risberg turns to me as her explanation of the initiative to broaden brand reach comes to a close, “JT I want you to figure out a way to reach these goals, think of a new way to deliver our message, something fresh.” Leaving me with that vague endeavor was my trial by fire in the healthcare marketing arena, two months and over seven million potential viewers later my Twitter campaign is still in full force extending the reach of the brand. As a senior at Texas Christian University studying Writing and Business Communication a diverse group of experiences have shaped me into a young professional.

As a natural writer, knowing how to strategically reach an audience has been the catalyst of my success. My understanding of targeting messaging has allowed me to find creative marketing solutions within corporate branding guidelines. Most recently I worked as a Corporate Communication Trainee for Delta Dental Insurance of California, developing enrollee marketing materials, as well as drafting press releases and researching legislation for public policy reform lobbyists. Prior to that I worked for San Diego Motorsports as an on the ground spokesperson managing brand image within the automotive enthusiast community.

I have excelled in positions of leadership, attained through both the choice of my peers and personal initiative. Being an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America has yielded significant experience in crisis management. When disaster struck I successfully coordinated a medi-vac flight in a life-threatening situation deep in the interior of Arizona. I possess composure and critical thinking skills that in a time of crisis have and will facilitate consistent quality results.
